About Red Light Therapy
The Basics
Red light therapy uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to support the body’s natural cellular processes. It’s non-invasive, requires no downtime, and is designed to be a relaxing addition to your recovery routine.
Most red light sessions last 10–20 minutes, depending on the type of treatment and your goals. For standard full-body use, about 10 minutes at 16–24 inches from the panels is recommended. Longer sessions of 15–20 minutes may be useful for more targeted areas, while recovery-focused sessions are typically 10–20 minutes at around 12–14 inches. More time is not necessarily better, so sessions are kept within recommended exposure ranges rather than simply extended for additional light.
Red and near-infrared light therapy supports cellular energy production and overall cellular function. It has been studied for benefits including healthier-looking skin, improved circulation, inflammation support, joint and muscle comfort, workout recovery, physical performance, and sleep quality. Results vary from person to person and depend on factors like treatment goals and consistency.
The timeline varies depending on what you’re using red light therapy for. Some effects, such as muscle recovery, soreness, relaxation, or sleep support, can be noticed within the first few sessions or within the first couple of weeks of consistent use. Changes involving skin appearance, tone, texture, or other longer-term cellular benefits generally take more time and may build over several weeks to a few months. Consistency matters, so regular sessions are usually more important than trying to make any one session longer.
Your Session
What to Expect
A private Rest Days recovery session gives you access to red light therapy, traditional sauna, cold plunge, quiet recovery space, and optional active recovery equipment. Guests can also use the Peloton Bike, Peloton Tread+, a half-court basketball area, and rebounder machine during their session. Robes, towels, and water are provided, and additional refreshments and snacks are available for purchase.
We provide robes, towels, and water, but you’re welcome to bring your own if you prefer. Please bring your own sandals.
You may also want to bring a book, yoga mat, headphones, or anything else that helps you relax. Outside food is welcome as well.
For sauna and cold plunge sessions, swimwear is recommended. In the sauna, we encourage natural, breathable fabrics when possible, and footwear is not permitted inside.
For red light therapy, the area being treated should be directly exposed to the light, since clothing can reduce how much red and near-infrared light reaches the skin. You can wear as little or as much as you’re comfortable with during your session. Robes are provided, and you’ll have complete privacy to change and uncover the areas you’d like to treat before your session begins.
If you plan to add light movement, you may also want to bring comfortable workout clothes and athletic shoes.

Yes. Protective eyewear should be worn during your red light therapy session, especially when using bright red and near-infrared light near the face or eyes. Rest Days provides protective eyewear for every session, so you don’t need to bring your own.
Yes, when availability allows. Private recovery sessions can be extended by an additional 30 minutes.
